3750 shoeboxes shipped to Cadena de Amor and several mammography units to the Cancer Center--in Honduras
May 2005 Shirlee Templeton travelled to Tegucigalpa to assist with the nuclear medicine program at the Cancer Center. Thyroid probe and drugs were donated worth about $20,000.
May 2004 An O.S. construction team did major carpentry and electrical work to both downtown Tegucigalpa Honduras free dental clinics and also did some work at the Casa Asti House there
April 2005 Alex Petras travelled to Honduras to install a breast biopsy machine at the Cancer Center. Value when new, several hundred thousand dollars.
March 2004 Shirlee Templeton travelled to Tegucigalpa to give a presentation on nuclear medicine, and assist with the nuclear medicine program at the Cancer Center. Money raised by Operation Shoebox was donated to the Cancer Society's "Relay for Life". Also 4465 shoeboxes shipped to Cadena de Amor in Honduras.
Feb 2004 Money, shoeboxes, toilet paper and office supplies donated to the Good Neighbor Center in Tigard.
August 2003 shipment
June/July 2003 Dr. Bill Inman and Alex Petras worked at the Cancer Center and the University of Honduras. Six mobile Lorad M3 mammography machines were set up.
June 2003 Dental Team travelled to Puerto Cortes. 500 children got dental exams and treatment, instructions on dental care, and shoeboxes.
May 2003 Ambulance donated and delivered to the Cheyenne Indian Reservation in Montana.
September 2002 shipment 1000 shoeboxes to Cadena, a color Doppler Ultra sound machine and several mammography units to the Cancer Center.
June 2002 A dental team travelled to Marcala, a small town in Honduras, to provide dental care for 477 children. See Ella's Report
February 2002 A construction team travelled to Honduras. They built 60 desks benches for the children at the market schools. There was also a partnership project with Mercy Corps where they built a second floor on a neighborhood facility. And they installed a 660 gallon water reservoir at the Humuya dental facilty which treats street children.
Jan 2002 shipment 3500 shoeboxes to Cadena de Amor, construction supplies, linens, and a mammography unit.
Oct 2001 shipment 1200 shoeboxes, many cartons of medical linens, a 7 passenger van in excellent condition for Cadena de Amor, plus radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and mammography units for the University of Honduras X-ray Technician Training School at the University of Honduras in Tegucigalpa.
June 2001 A dental team travelled to Honduras to provide primary care to people in mountain villages in the Copan Ruinas area.
May 2001 A combined medical/dental team travelled to Honduras to provide clinical services in the Tegucigalpa area.
March 2001 A Shoebox Construction Team travelled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras to fix up facilities providing youth services, a dental clinic, and dental school.
2000 Dr. Vazul Gabor has been reading nuclear medical studies by teleradiograpy remotely at his Salt Lake City Hospital for the past year.

A nuclear medicine team will work at the Cancer Center in Tegucigalpa.

October 2000

A shipment of 10,000 pounds of medical supplies, shoeboxes, school supplies and computers is in storage, awaiting a flight to Honduras

June 2000

A dental team (two dentists, two assistants and five Honduran dentists) treated 300 students and distributed 800 shoeboxes.

February 2000

A construction team of 17 people did remodeling and reconstruction work at Cadena de Amor, Centro de Amor y Vida and Humuya Dental Clinic.

January 2000

Two nuclear medical doctors and four nuclear medical technicians worked for three months at the Cancer Center, helping to get the nuclear medicine department up and running.

Fall 1999

A physicist from Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) spent a week at the Cancer Center, helping get the new radiation therapy machine operational.

June 1999

A medical team traveled to villages near Danli, in southern Honduras. They also provided care on the island of Utila.

April 1999

A medical team provided health care in the villages near El Progresso and on the island of Utila.

March 1999

A construction team repaired flood damage at the headquarters of Cadena de Amor in Tegucigalpa. The team also updated the electrical system at the Humuja Pediatric Dental Clinic and began planning reconstruction projects for the Center for Love and Life.

February 1999

A construction team partnered with a Solar Survival team to construct a prototype house in Tegucigalpa, using recycled tires.

January 1999

A small medical team visited rural villages near Morazan, Yorro. Primary medical care was provided to children and adults.

November 1998

A large medical team provided urgent health care in Tegucigalpa, El Hatillo and Agua Fria following Hurricane Mitch and spawned leaders for subsequent medical teams. Operation Shoebox donors generously provided more than 32,000 shoebox gifts and nearly $3 million worth of clothing, food, medical supplies and equipment for distribution throughout the country of Honduras in the six months following the disaster.

September 1998

An Operation Shoebox construction team partnered with a Tegucigalpa Rotary Club to build dividing walls and add electric lighting to classrooms in a school in Colonia Alemania. This project enabled the school to expand its enrollment from approximately 600 students to more than 800 students.
